Senior – Chris McDonough (Doutta Stars)
Chris has a strong relationship with his boys and with such a large number of U16 players moving to U18’s this year he lobbied all the boys to keep engaged and involved in football. Chris works with both U18 sides to impart his knowledge and team ethics, thus keeping kids in football during a period when the boys are usually lost to the game due to work, studies or peer pressure.
Youth – John Wood (Gisborne Rookies)
John has been coaching at Gisborne for 4 years with a great
record on developing kids football abilities as well as their maturity
levels. John has coached sides at our
club which did not include his own child and also coached the U12 RDFL
Interleague side in 2009. John has completed his Level 1 and this year
completed his Level 2 Coaching Course to gain more information and
skills. From a club point of view, John is a great
person to have around the club.
Junior – Bernie Griffiths (Jacana)
Bernie has an enthusiastic and passionate coach who is further developing his knowledge by working with the senior group. He is always on time and prepared for training and match day, his emphasis with his team has been to develop their skills through a systematic training routine enabling the players to follow this through on game day. He has a very disciplined side, he is well respected by all and very approachable.
Auskick – Peter Abdilla (East Sunbury Auskick)
Pete puts extensive hours into planning each week of Auskick. After role call the children are taken for a warm up run and exercises while Peter tells the parents and assistant coaches what activities are going to take place, how many groups are needed and how many helpers are required (the more the merrier!). He keeps in contact with Auskick families via email regarding any AFL grid games/Little League games, Round Robin games, social events and presentation day details. One of the reasons the clinic is so successful is because of Peter’s communication skills and keeping everyone involved. Peter sees the importance of providing activities to enhance the skill development at all age groups. This works well with the group, enabling the younger children to learn the fundamentals of football and the older age groups to further develop their skills and remain interested in Auskick.
