The Calder Cannons comfortably defeated the Western Jets at ABD Stadium on the weekend by 73 points.
The game was played at a good pace early on and both teams were able to get some scores on the board. Calder had more of the footy and it reflected in their 15 point lead at quarter time.
The second quarter saw Calder make the most of their opportunities. The Jets missed some gettable shots in front of goal and it allowed the cannons to slip away to a 45 point lead at half time.
The second half was similar to the first. Cannons looked more polished and ran harder than the Jets. In the end they ran away with the game and gave the Jets their second consecutive heavy defeat. Jack Fitzpatrick was good all day kicking 5.5 at full forward and Chris Aloi and Scott Sherlock also tried hard but didnât have enough support from their teammates.
The Competition now has a week off over ANZAC weekend before heading down to Ballarat for their round 4 encounter with the Rebels.
