Round 9 Eastern Ranges v Sandringham Dragons, Saturday June 4th, Box Hill City Oval, 11am.
Following a narrow defeat to the North Ballarat Rebels last weekend, the Ranges will be looking to redeem themselves against the Dragons.
Although they remain at 6th place on the ladder, Eastern now find themselves only one game clear of the 9th placed Bendigo Pioneers. It will be no easy task to take down Sandringham who has only lost two games this season. They sit in 4th place with a 5-2-1 record.
Eastern was the better side for two and a half quarters last week, but letting the Rebels get out to a big six goal lead early in the second term proved costly in the end. This week they will need to start well and produce a four quarter effort if they are to defeat Sandy. However, the Dragons are also coming off a loss to Bendigo, meaning this will be an opportune time for the Ranges to cause a mini-upset.
Nelson Lane comes straight back into the side after missing with illness last week. While sixteen year old Mitchell Perry, from Lysterfield, will be making his Ranges debut as the 23rd player.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Corey Wakefield
Wakefield was on fire last weekend, amassing 22 disposals to go with his five goals. He showed great poise and skill in a display that will hopefully give him the confidence to take his game to the next level.
