Eastern Ranges played Sandringham Dragons on Sunday 19th July resulting in a 59-point victory at Box Hill City Oval.
The Ranges were red hot right form the start, taking control of the match early to have a healthy for goal lead at the end of the first term.
The second quarter was a little more promising for the Dragons, who managed to slot through three majors for the term, but this made little impact on the Ranges strong form who lead at half time by five goals.
The Ranges were pumped, running out from the rooms at the main break holding their heads up; with the Ranges putting on quite a show in the third term.
Sandringham were left goalless in the third quarter, only managing to put through one point, as the Ranges advanced on to boot through six more goals out of a possible ten opportunities.
The Ranges backline saw little of the ball until late in the final term, where the Dragons had a few scoring opportunities to make presence on the scoreboard.
Ranges coach, Shane Watson was pleased with the boys’ performance today.
“They are really turning out to be a top side as the end of the season approaches,” he said.
“The boys played strongly as a team today, and I think there is just some fine tuning that needs to be done, to ensure that we are ready to have strong, consistent form for the finals,” Watson said.
Scoring was not a problem for the boys from the east today, with the ball being shared around the forwardline.
Josh Dyson and Ben Griffiths topped the goal scoring list today, booting through three goals a piece, while La Marca was dangerous in the forward pocket slotting through two for the Ranges.
Best on ground for the Ranges was Ryan Wilson, who was dynamic throughout the midfield racking up 31 possessions, while Jay Kinder had a commendable game collecting 16 possessions for the day.
Two strong wins in a row sees the Ranges sitting nicely in fourth place, with only the slightest percentage away from regaining third spot from Gippsland Power.
The Ranges have this weekend off to rejuvenate and prepare for their next match against the Calder Cannons.
Round 17: Eastern Ranges vs. Calder Cannons, Saturday August 1st, @ 1:00pm Box Hill City Oval.
