Heading into their round 6 clash against Bendigo, Eastern was looking to continue their impressive 18 match winning streak against the Pioneers.
What got off to a slow starting match with neither side able to score big in the first term, with a total of three goals being scored between the two sides; at quarter time the Pioneers lead by two goals, thanks to several behinds.
However the game lifted in the second term with Eastern piling on seven goals, while Bendigo kicked five of their own. Josh Begley was the Ranges main target up forward, kicking four goals in one quarter. At the half it was Eastern leading by one straight kick.
That would be the last of their lead for the day. Bendigo came out firing in the second half, and their momentum proved to be unstoppable as they kicked a further nine goals, while Eastern could only manage the one. Although the Range’s had the better of the last term, they had left their run too late and could not catch the Pioneers, who came out eventual winners by 21 points.
On a positive note, Jaidyn Stephenson had a successful return from injury kicking four goals, while also having seventeen disposals.

Eastern starts a run of four home games with a match against the winless Gippsland Power at Box Hill City Oval. They will see this as a good opportunity to bounce back from two straight losses as they try to improve their 3-3 win-loss record.
