AFL Victoria has instigated three development days throughout the course of the 2008 TAC Cup season. These days are for specific planning by TAC Cup clubs Management / Coaching staff but it is expected as part of the development of players in the AFL talented pathway that AFL Academy programs [Geelong Falcons] will initiate these specific days to develop players and their squads. This is especially relevant to Country teams whose access to players throughout the season is limited due to time / travel.
Saturday, 21st June, 11.00am
Terang Football Ground, Terang
Objectives of Development Day:
-
TAC L 120 program â all squad players are expected to drive to training as part of the TAC driving for experience program. (TAC - major sponsor of TAC Cup)
-
Train the full squad as a group for the future development of players for AFL /VFL opportunities.
-
Mid year fitness testing of 2008 squad.
-
Mid year medical review.
-
Champion Data /DVD edits of players and team structure.
-
Leading teams / team leaders / goal setting for squad players / individual players.
It is also very important that the Geelong based players travel to the Hampden region to support their teammates who travel each Thursday to training (5 hour round trip on the bus) and those parents who drive their sons to games in Geelong /Melbourne at a significant personal cost (petrol).
