Former Geelong Falcon Jimmy Bartel won the Brownlow Medal on Monday night finishing on 29 votes, beating the rest of the field by a massive seven votes.
Bartel was selected 8th in the 2001 National Draft alongside the likes of Chris Judd, Luke Hodge and Luke Ball and was always destined for great things at the Cats.
The former Bell Park dragon made the TAC Cup Team of the Year and U/18 All-Australian in 2000 and 2001 and played in the Cats 2002 VFL premiership. He also added All-Australian honours to his long list of achievements for 2007.
All of Geelong now hopes the gutsy mid-fielder can lead the Cats to victory at the MCG on Saturday.
Bartel is the first Geelong Falcon to win the Brownlow Medal.
