Engie Gippsland Power’s “magical mystery tour” through the 2019 NAB League season took another positive step with a resounding win in the elimination final against the Western Jets last weekend. In generally ideal football conditions, the Power started quietly but moved into overdrive from midway through the opening quarter.more

BIG LAST QUARTER COMEBACK FOR POWER

A match without nine of its best players due to national championship commitments. Their opponents, Geelong Falcons, also had key boys missing but nowhere near the number that Power were without. POWER CHARGE HOME OVER OAKLEIGH

The return of several key players gave engie Gippsland Power the ability to cope positively with the pressure of playing the Oakleigh Chargers, one of the NAB League’s best teams. Captain, Brock Smith and Ryan Sparkes, Charlie Comben, Fraser Phillips and Harry Pepper were available for limited time after state duties while Sam Berry returned from school football commitments.more

JETS HOLD OFF POWER

Round nine of the 2019 NAB League saw engie Gippsland Power again with the vast majority of their best team missing and, subsequently, a lot of pressure being placed on the least experienced members of the squad. State duties, injuries and school football commitments meant that there were ten bottom agers in the team with most of them having only played a couple of these elite matches.more

After recording a morale boosting, come from behind win against Greater Western Sydney last weekend, engie Gippsland Power upped the ante even further to win narrowly against the highly rated Eastern Ranges. In ideal conditions at Morwell, the Power went into this challenging match without Leo Connolly due to injury while Kyle Dunkley played in the AFL Legends match on the MCG.more

POWER TRIUMPHANT OVER PIONEERS

Engie Gippsland Power travelled to Bendigo last weekend and emerged victorious over the Bendigo Pioneers. The win was achieved as a result of intense application the club’s trademark, hard-nosed football and had coach, Rhett McLennan, full of praise for their willingness to stick doggedly to the team’s game.more

DANDENONG STING POWER

The 2019 NAB League season continued for engie Gippsland Power with another close game but, unlike round one, the boys were unable to hold on and lost narrowly to arch rivals, the Dandenong Stingrays. Round one of the 2019 NAB under 18 competition began positively for the engie Gippsland Power after they recorded a hard-fought, narrow victory over the Murray Bushrangers. The engie Gippsland Power’s 2018 TAC Cup season ended in an undignified and very, undeserved manner, when they suffered an absolute thrashing at the hands of the Oakleigh Chargers. After being highly competitive against the very best during the year, the Power were outplayed by the Chargers who had all of their players available for the first time for the season.more

POWER WIN FIRST FINAL

The business end of the 2018 TAC Cup season began positively for the engie Gippsland Power with a comprehensive win over the Geelong Falcons in ideal conditions at the historic Ikon oval. Under the competition’s odd finals system their opponents had finished two games out of the eight but had won a wildcard position by defeating the Calder Cannons.more

6 IN A ROW TO END THE H&A SEASON

The last match in the 2018 TAC Cup season for engie Gippsland Power resulted in another unconvincing and scrappy victory against the Eastern Ranges but, importantly, ensured that they will now have a week off as they prepare for the first round of the knockout final series.more

REWARD FOR EFFORT FOR REID

At the end of his first TAC Cup season, promising defender Kyle Reid had a review meeting with his coaches.

Reid had shown plenty of potential as a bottom aged player, but talent only gets you so far. The feedback delivered was that he needed to work on his body and fitness if he wanted to take his game to the next level.more

POWER BACK TO WINNING WAYS

After playing some very ordinary football in recent weeks, engie Gippsland Power returned to their most impressive form to soundly defeat the third placed Murray Bushrangers. What made the performance even more stunning was the fact that it was achieved without four of the Power’s best players who were rested after participating in the recent National Championships.more

An analysis of the challenge facing engie Gippsland Power in their match against the Bendigo Pioneers would have presented a deserved level of optimism for the local boys. Respective ladder positions were the obvious factor to be positive as the Power were placed second while the Pioneers were on the bottom after recording just one win for the 2018 season so far.more

HEARTBREAKING LOSS FOR POWER

Deja-vu has become a term that the players’ coaches and supporters of engie Gippsland Power are starting to dislike intensely as they suffered their fifth loss of the 2017 season by less than one goal. If this wasn’t enough of a psychological burden, the fact that they were in front for much of the match made it even a more devastating scenario.more

POWER CUT OFF

The match against the Oakleigh Chargers was a challenge that required more of this work ethic as they were a top three side and the Power knew full well that they couldn’t afford to underestimate them. At the end of the game, the fact that the Chargers won by one hundred and one points and totally blitzed the Power, can be explained by one of two possibilities.more

TWO IN A ROW FOR POWER

Round ten of the 2017 TAC Cup season presented engie Gippsland Power with a strong challenge after they had caused the upset of the season when they defeated the Geelong Falcons in their previous match. After losing several games narrowly earlier in the year, the Power needed to repeat this commitment and play consistently if they were to overcome the Greater Western Victoria Rebels at Casey Fieldmore

POWER FIGHT OFF FALCONS

Theoretically, engie Gippsland Power’s task in taking on the TAC Cup’s top side, the Geelong Falcons at Colac was mission impossible for the most positive of supporters. The Falcons were undefeated, had several of the competition’s best players and the Power still had an extensive injury list that robbed them of vitally important playersmore

A total of 20 Gippsland Power players have been selected in the initial Vic Country squads for the U16 and U18 National Championships to be held later this year.
Over the Easter break, the Under 18 Vic Country squad participated in a camp, which culminated in trial matches against Vic Metro at Ikon Park. Selectors now have the tough job of reducing the 65 player list to the final squad for roundmore
