CLUB POLICIES
Policy No. 1 Fair Go For All – Equal Game Time
Objective: To ensure that all players get a fair go, each week and over the season.
Policy Provisions:
- 1. All players listed on the team sheet must play at least half the game and coaches need to be able to clearly demonstrate this, each week
- 2. All players in Under 13’s and above must be provided with the opportunity to play in all sections of the ground (being backline, midfield and forward line) across the season and this must be able to be demonstrated by the coach;
- 3. All players in Under 12’s and lower must receive equal game time in the following sections of the ground over the season and this must be able to be demonstrated by the coach;
- Full back line
- Half back line
- On ball / centre
- Half forward line
- Full forward line
Policy No. 2 Fair Go For All – Even Teams
Objective: To ensure that teams within the same age groups are even
Policy Provisions:
- 1. In the event that the Club has two or more teams in the same age group, the Club will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the teams are as even as possible. This will involve;
- During the preseason undertaking a process to achieve as even as possible teams
- Reviewing and potentially making changes to the teams after the first three rounds of the season
Policy No. 3 Awards
Objective: To ensure that there is a clear understanding of awards provided by the Club.
Policy Provisions:
- 1. Andy Baker – Perpetual Trophy
The Andy Baker “Encouragement Award” is to be awarded to a player in the 12’s age group. The trophy is not to be awarded to the best player in the team but to the player who has shown dedication to training, improving their skills, being a good team member and showing respect to their coach, opposition players and the Club. The player also needs to demonstrate a desire to continue their football at MCJFC.
- 2. Auskick and Modified Rules
All players will receive an award from the Club at the end of the season for their participation. No awards (other than the Andy Baker award) are given in these age groups on any other basis.
The following awards are provided by the Club;
- Best and Fairest
- 1st Runner Up
- 2nd Runner Up
No count backs are applied to these awards (thus if more than one player is equal on votes, they become joint and equal winners).
- Coaches Award – determined by the coach, but not to be awarded to a player who receives a separate Club award
- Captains Award – determined by the Captain and where the team does not have a specified captain all year, the players determine the award via a secret ballot. The award can not be awarded to a player who receives a separate Club award.
- Most Improved Award – determined by the coach, but not to be awarded to a player who receives a separate Club award.
- Spies Family Best Club Person Award - is to be award to a person who has made a significant contribution to the club over a number of years in an official or unofficial capability. The award is to be determined by the President in consultation with relevant club members”
- Presidents Award - is to be award to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the Club over the past season. The award is to be determined by the President in consultation with relevant club members”
Policy No. 4 Drug and Alcohol Policy
Objective: To ensure that our players are provided with a drug and alcohol free sporting environment.
Policy Provisions:
- 1. Coaches are required to request any player who attends training or a game and is observed to be exhibiting obvious signs of being under the influence of, or suffering from the affects of drugs or alcohol to leave the premises immediately and the coach is to notify the Committee of the Club as soon as practical of the player’s name and actions taken by the coach.
