Saturday 24th June will now always be a historic day for Dapto AFL
In our 3rd AFLSC league season the Dapto City Stallions ran onto its home ground for the very first time.
This was a very proud moment for our club but also a very exciting moment for the AFLSC community to have a brand new AFL field in the Illawarra that will be be available all year round.
Whilst it is still a very humble ground with no permanent facilities, our committee with our awesome supporters created a pop up world of gazebo's to provide players with change rooms, and a shop/canteen for both teams supporters. The field also has a great exposure being located next to the Illawarra sports stadium, where massive amounts of netball families walked by thought out the day.
We may not have been victorious, the Stallions played with heart and mateship that will be remembered far longer than the score.
Coaches Award - Andrew Farrugia Drewy Mahbro
Players Player - David John Boorman
1st home game goal was scored by Jarrod Mallon
and our highest point scorer was Jaidan Yates (1-1-7)
Special mentions to the Wollongong Lions AFC for a great game played with true sportsmanship and to Marcus Hollingsworth who volunteered his time to officiate our game. Both clubs were very grateful and it showed the community spirit of our league that playing the game is the most important thing.
Lastly to the AFL South Coast league and AFL NSW/ACT @ Moore Park thank you for your ongoing support.
Thank you all
