The Saints led at every change and outmuscled the reigning premiers 14-12-96 to 10-7-67 with key forwards Mick Viney and Nathan Munro stealing the show, kicking five goals apiece.
The Saints led the Nomads by a point at the first break but a 5 goals to 1 second quarter gave the Saints a 26 point buffer going into the half time break.
To their credit, the Nomads reduced the lead to 8 pts but the Saints then steadied via the boot of Mick Viney to go into the last change 14 points up.
In a torrid last term, the Nomads threw everything it had at the Saints, but the Saints withstood the onslaught and scored 4 goals to 2 to run out victors by 29 points and secure third spot on the TAFL ladder for the time being.
The Saints had winners all over the ground including Shaun Mansbridge, Fraser Hughes and Gary Hadland but Coach Dick Gleeson was pretty impressed with the team's performance as a whole.
The only concern for the Saints is the foot injury sustained to star half forward Dave Kent who left the field late in the 3rd term.
The Saints now have a week off and start preparing for the two big clashes against the Tamworth Swans and the Tamworth Kangaroos.
Win one of these games and the Saints will be in the finals. Win both games, the Saints will host a final. Lose both, The Saints will be in a battle to keep the season alive.
