After 15 rounds and a
couple of weeks worth of finals, it all comes down to this. The Saints have qualified for their
third consecutive Grand Final, and the second at home. This year, it will not be the
Kangaroos, but a fired up Swans side that have been the big improvers of season
2009. Congratulations to the Swans
on getting through to the big one after what would have been a tough match
against the Roos last week.
For the Saints, it has
been a year with more ups and downs than a rollercoaster. Starting off with 2 bad losses on the
road, the Saints finally hit their straps to 4 on the trot at home. This was followed by the only loss at
home this year to the Swans and an inconsistent run through the middle of the
season that saw the Saints teetering on the brink of the top 4. However a strong run home, which saw
the Saints win their last 4 round games, followed by a great team performance
in the Major Semi, sees Inverell hosting a Grand Final in 2009. If the previous two Grand Finals are
anything to go by, this weekend promises to be an absolute cracker. Another big crowd is expected to fill
Varley Oval, and good footy is guaranteed.
Win, lose or draw, we
would love for all supporters to come back to the Royal Hotel for our last
presentations of the year and to celebrate another excellent season. A big thanks to all our volunteers for
their help throughout the season, because without you we would not have a club
which operates so well. Good luck
to everyone involved and we’ll see you there on Saturday!!
