Defense has been a cornerstone of the Inverell Saints success over the past 3 years. For the third consecutive year, the Saints have had the best defensive record of any team in the TAFL. It is a core unit of players who work together and are proud of their impressive record.
4 - Peter Dunlop - A foundation player of the Saints, "Dunny" commits himself to every contest and usually comes out of the pack with the ball in his hands. Usually gets the dangerous small forward of the opposition.
10 - Shaun Mansbridge - Another bloke who has been with the Saints from day one, he has a beautiful kick and is composed under the high ball. Reads the play very well and a lot of attacking raids start with a clearing kick from Shauny.
17 - Joe Kimmince - One of the runners up in the Gilles Medal Count, he can play anywhere from full back to full forward. Is quick and rarely out marked, forwards who have Kimmo line up on them are usually in for a bad day.
19 - Mark Heath - A new player to the club this year, he doesn't seek the glory of his brother by kicking all the goals, but rather plays a great role in running off the defensive line. A strong mark and accurate kick makes him an attacking threat from the back half.
20 - Matt Harrison - Captain Courageous leads the defensive group with his relentless attack on the ball and refusal to give up.. Will get a role and not let his team down.
27 - James Williams - The sickest man in Australia, if he is ever fit he provides a fantastic amount of run and carry out of the backline. Has improved his kicking and is now one of the most reliable kicks on the team.
32 - Sam Kimmince - Still only young but a lot of talent. Will work all day and provide a contest at every opportunity. His left foot can penetrate any defensive zone but is also quick enough to take the line on.
35 - Justin Pay - Only a second year player but it feels as though he has been playing this game for life. Ultra consistent, he has barely missed a game in 2 years and has found a new home down back. Tough to beat on the lead and never beaten in the air.
36 - Corey Borthwick - A bloke you would take to the trenches with you, what you see is what you get. Goes at the ball hard and will never shirk the issue.
39 - Nick Baird - The pretender of the team, kicks the ball a long way but at the disagreement of his hammys. Will steer clear of chicken this Friday night.
