After what can best be described as a rollercoaster year, the Saints have earned for themselves a third consecutive Major Semi Final berth. And for the second year in a row, it will be against the Tamworth Kangaroos. The circumstances this year, however, will be very different. The Roos are the form side of the competition, having not lost at all during the last round of matches, whilst the Saints have managed to win 5 of their last 6 but did lose to the Roos in Tamworth in that time.
For the Saints, this weekend looms as the biggest test for this side this year. We seem to just be hovering under the radar, written off by many critics within the TAFL, however with some consistent performances in the past few weeks and a growing self belief within the playing group, a good battle seems certain. Co coaches Peter Heath and Dick Gleeson have done a fantastic job since taking over midway through the season in developing this young side. New recruits Beau Ryan, Ben Lee and Keiran Te Velde have become integral parts of the line up, whilst veterans Mick Viney, Shaun Mansbridge and Gary Hadland keep on giving their best every week.
This match promises to be a great showdown between the top 2 teams of the TAFL, especially if past finals matches are anything to go by. All the best to both teams and a reminder to all fans to get out to watch what should be 2 cracking games of Aussie Rules in Tamworth this Saturday.
