It has been a very busy week for the Saints, with some positives and some negatives to come out of the week. After last week's loss in Gunedah and the subsequent drama, Coach Darren Bailey decided to hand in his resignation from the coaching role. This was a very difficult decision for him to come to, and the club can only hope he continues to be involved around the place. Being the only person to put up his hand for the role at the end of last year, the club will be forever in is debt and thank him for his efforts this year. It was announced that Dick Gleeson, Peter Heath and Kevin Pay would share in a caretaker role until the end of the season, at which time further searching will take place for a new coach. Thanks to these men for giving up their time to caoch the club.
On Wednesday night, Bailey and Chris Whitton travelled to Tamworth to front the Tribunal following allegations of abusing umpires after the Gunnedah game. Bailey was charged with 3 charges and after pleading guilty to one of those and convicted of another, he recieved a 3 match suspension. Chris Whitton pleaded not guilty to abusing an umpire, and the report was thrown out with insufficient evidence to convict him. This means that he is available for the Muswellbrook trip next weekend.
On Thursday night, Shane Crawford was battling hard to win $10000 for the club, and although he could bring home a premiership last year for the Hawks, could not break the record for the Saints. However, the club will still receive $5000 to go toward a project that is yet to be determined.
All this and there is not even a game this weekend!!
