The Inverell Saints will undertake their shortest road trip, taking on the New England Nomads at Armidale on Saturday. Both teams are involved in the log jam for second place, and a win could set either team up for a run to the finals, whilst a loss could seriously hurt those same chances.
The Saints have travelled well to Armidale in recent years, with a couple a hard earned wins in their last 2 trips about. They will need to be playing well to come away with the 4 points this week however, and face a big task minus a few of their stars. The Saints will welcome back Beau Ryan, who has recovered from a broken nose, and Jack Lawton who had other committments last week. Both are an integral part of the Saints midfield, and the run they provide will be a huge boost. The Saints will also welcome back TOm Williams from an ankle injury and Stewart Walker from suspension. The Saints will lose the services of Justin Pay and Mick Viney, both of whom have fallen ill, and will still be without Shaun Mansbridge. Their losses will have a big effect on the Saints set-up.
The match looms as a massive one for the Saints in 2009. A loss here will make in 2 in a row again, an put them on the brink of missing finals football for the first time in their existence. A win puts them back in the chase for second spot and a home final. It should be an absolute cracker and the match starts at 2pm at Bellvue Oval, Armidale.
