The Inverell Saints will look to continue their rich vein of form this weekend when they host the Tamworth Kangaroos at Varley Oval. The Saints have won their last three on the trot at fortress Varley, but will face a stern test against the reigning premiers. The Roos have had the wood on the Saints in recent outings, winning their last three clashes, going back to the Major Semi of last year's competition. Their most recent battle was on ANZAC Day in Round 1, where the Roos took down the Saints in Tamworth by 11 points.
The match promises to be a good one with both teams sitting on a 3-2 record heading into it, essentially making it an '8 point game'. The two teams have been the barometer in recent years, playing in consecutive Grand Finals against each other. This year, both teams are chasing the in form Swans, and any game lost puts them in serious trouble of losing the chance at top spot.
The Saints will look to the usual suspects to lift them this weekend. Peter Heath has been dominant in the ruck and consistently pushes the Saints deep into attack from the midfield. Jack Lawton is in supreme form, getting the ball from stoppages and also providing a stopping job on any of the opposition's best midfielders. Joe Kimmince will more than likely get the job in defense, but also has the chance to push forward if needed.
The action kicks off from 11.30am tomorrow when the little Saints play the Swans auskickers in a Gala Day. All spectators are welcome to come along. The main game starts ar 2pm.
