The Inverell Saints will make the trek to Gunnedah this Saturday to take on the Gunnedah Bulldogs. The last time these teams met at Wolsely Oval, the match ended in bizarre circumstances and two Saints players found themselves in hospital after seperate incidents. The Saints will be keen to wipe that memory away with a strong performance whilst the Dogs are keen to continue their charge to a top 3 spot.
The Saints enter the game with 3 changes. Alex Dasey injured a groin at training through the week and will miss, while Tom Williams and Dave Kent are both unavailable. Kye Bailey returns to the team after some strong training performances as does Nathan Cox, with the experience of Dick Gleeson an added bonus to the Saints forward line.
The Saints will be looking to contain the run of the Bulldogs midfield and will enter the game with some tactics devised through the week at training. Once again the attack will be lead by the consistent Mick Viney and a resurgent Stew Walker, with both getting into some good form over the last few weeks. Matty Harrison will lend his experience to the backline in attempt to shut down the dangerous Bulldogs forwards but the emergence of Sam Kimmince at half back has been a huge coup for the Saints, and another strong showing will have the opposition sitting up and taking notice.
This is a match that both teams need to win for different reasons but also a chance to get one up on the other because a finals clash is not out of the picture.
Saints players are reminded the bus will leave the Royal at 9.30am sharp.
