From the outset, the Swans were focused on the ball, slamming home 8 goals to just 3 behinds in a dream start for the home side.
The Saints just had one of those days where the bounce of the ball eluded them throughout the match. We weren't allowed to play the brand of football, which dismantled the Kangaroos a fortnight ago, and in doing so lost confidence in our ability to do what we had done throughout the home and away season
Everything the Swans attempted reaped rewards, from goals from the boundary line to centre clearances that reaped goals, they had done their homework and were carrying out their plan to a tee.
In the end we lost by 114 points - a loss that certainly left a number of players, committee and supporters to think WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TODAY?
Sure the Swans are a top team but I don't think that Saturdays score line reflected how close the two teams were during the season.
We did have one winner on the day and that was Jono Elphick who ran and tackled his heart out from go to woe. Jono has had a tremendous debut season and will strap on the boots again next season (so I am told).
So our season that started off nervously during the summer and then promising towards the latter end of the year is over.
Let's forget about the events of the Preliminary final because we know we are better than that. Let's focus on the year as a whole and ponder how we can get better in 2007.
Best wishes to Darren Bailey and the Juniors as they prepare for their Grand Final outing against the Kangaroos. Focus at the task at hand and I know you'll be able to bring home the bacon. Good Luck Boys.
Let's get as much support to Armidale this week as we can.
