Well, what can I say. Willie Pickett has pulled off some wonderful picks in the past, and last week was no different. If you had of followed my advice last week, more often than not you would have won. But I won't go on too much, because this week is another week.
The round starts on Friday night at the 'G with the underachieving Hawks hosting the Weagles. The Hawks were terrible last week and it seems the bubble has burst with 'Superstar" Buddy who was hopeless again. The writing has been on the wall for a couple of weeks and now they are right up against it playing a team with nothing to lose. Hang on, they do have something to lose, first round draft picks. The Weagles will tank this one, and probably have one of those "almost" losses. No matter how many times Worsfold says they are trying, it gets harder to believe after each loss. Hawks by 50.
Also at the 'G on Saturday sees two traditional rivals in Carlton and Richmond clash. Willie Pickett can reveal the real reason why the Blues fell into a heap last week, they told their players only Fevola, Judd and Scotland would be paid last week because the club had to pay the bill to the umps that got them over the line the week before against the Pies. As would be expected, the playing group were not happy and played like it, with only Fev really having a good day out. They should be better this week, unless they really sot themselves in the foot and paid for the umps again and were beaten. The Tiges were good last week, and as was predicted here, they were to good for the Power. One 'loyal, silver membership holder' should have followed my advice, but he can't be told. They will win again here, but it will be close, a goal or two in it.
Also on Saturday arvo, footy returns to the Gold Coast when the Roos host the Saintas. Both teams are coming off good wins last week and this should be a good battle. Expect the Saints to pick Dal Santo and Milne this week and that might be the difference. It is hard to see the Roos kicking two good scores in two weeks and I think the Saintas will strangle them out of it. Expect less than 120 points scored in the whole match and the Saints to win by 2 goals.
On Saturday night it will be hot and steamy in the north when the Dogs host the Power in Darwin. The Dogs were too good for the Pies last week but struggled until the Pies went down to one on the bench. They will need to be better this week. The Power were game, but if they couldn't beat the Tiges at home, I don't like their chances in Darwin. Dogs by 30.
Melbourne will host Brisbane on Sunday at the 'G in a clash they won't win. They showed plenty of spirit last week against the Swans who were less than impressive but containing the run of the Lions, who love the 'G, could be tough. Brown may well kick 15 this week and the Lions will win by 80.
The last game of the split round will see the Shockers hosing the Dons at Subi. The Shockers were terrible last week and should have beaten the Saints whilst the Dons disposed of the Navy Blues early and were never headed. The Shockers are a better team at home and will win this one, but it could be a close one. Shockers by 5.
Next week, Willie Pickett will review the remaining two games of the split round, but until then, good luck and good tipping.
