Saints 15-14-104 def Cats 11-0-66
The Saints have been the team to beat all year. They have travelled strongly and been serious about a Grand Final appearance from day one in the 2007 TAFL competition. They put it to the Cats again, leading for most of the game, except for a sparkling second quarter by the Cats. It seemed to be a game of two kicking styles, with the accurate Cats not kicking a behind all day and the Saints with multiple scoring shots and opportunities each quarter.
The Saints kicked away to lead the tight first quarter by 18 points, courtesy of 9 scoring shots at goal, yielding 3-6-24 against the Cats solitary goal. The second quarter saw the Ctas roar into action, booting 7 majors to 2 from the Saints. This may have been the case of an early sprint that took a lot of petrol out of the Cats tank, as they couldn't seem to match this effort in the remaining two quarters. The Saints steadied, kicked 6 goals to 1 in the 3rd quarter and 4 goals to 2 in the last to close out the match.Alex Walker starred for the Saints again as their BOG, booting 4 goals, supported by Nick Baird with 3 and Nate Munro with 2. For the Cats Rys Smith kicked 4 and Adam White & Bryce O'Connor kicked a pair each. Young gun Braedon Jones was the Cats BOG.
Roos 14-12-96 def Nomads 8-7-55
The Tamworth Roos kept their fnals hope alive, playing in their second elimination game in as many weeks. They started the game well against the Nomads whose home ground advantage is pretty strong given the varying weather conditions in Armidale. The 1st quarter was pretty tight, with the Nomads sneaking ahead to lead by a single goal at quarter time. The Roos began to play strongly in the 2nd and kicked 5 goals to 2 to break the game open, leading by 13 at the long break. The Nomads continued to try hard, but their scoring dried up and the Roos continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over to extend their lead going into the last quarter to 21 points.A 5 goal to 2 last quarter sealed the win for the Roos and gives them a shot at a Grand Final berth against the Muswellbrook Cats next weekend. Dan Overeem was solid for the Roos , booting 7 majors and was supported by Andrew Hawkins with 3 goals. Cameron Douglas was the BOG Roo. For the Nomads there were no multiple goal scorers and Hamish Robertson was their BOG.
