It was a shoot out between the two key forwards with Saints newcomer Ryan Woolley booting six while Roos stalwart Dan Overeem ending the match with seven majors.
Wooley kicked the opening goal of the game with the Saints looking on song to cause an upset early in the game but the Roos warmed up to the challenge taking control of the match and the lead by the first break.
The Saints matched the Roos in the second term and actually outscored the visitors to trail by 22 points at the main break.
The difference between the two sides was pace and skill with the Kangaroos pin pointing passes and kicking goals at crucial times during the afternoon while the Saints looked slow and uncertain during the second half.
The Saints missed the speed and drive of the Cosgrove twins and Damon Harrison, who are expected to play against the Moree Suns on Saturday, and may also receive an added boost with the inclusion of Lochie McDonald who has been missing in recent weeks.
The day was not all lost with the Club staging a successful Ladies Day with over $2000 raised on the day for the Inverell Breast Cancer Support group.
The Club would also like to acknowledge the Tamworth Kangaroos with their kind donation to the cause.
