The Inverell Saints have lost their final home & away game of the season going down by 5 points to the Tamworth Kangaroos at No1 Oval on Saturday.
Fraser Hughes, who filled in for the day, had a shot after the final siren to win the game for the Saints but unfortunately did not have the legs and fell short.
In a game where the result did not mean too much for both sides, the crowd were entertained by the tight struggle.
The Roos led for much of the game but could not break free of the undermanned Saints outfit.
The hitout will benefit the likes of Chris Whitton and Jono Elphick who have played little footy over the past month.
The Saints will now prepare for their Major Semi final appearance against competition favorites the New England Nomads in Armidale this Saturday.
It's hoped all players who have qualified to play finals this year will make the effort to attend training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evening at Varley Oval
