In a lacklustre affair at Varley Oval on Saturday, the Inverell Saints have demolished an undermanned Tamworth Swans outfit to win 16.18.114 to 4.7.31.
The home side itself was missing a number of stars including Jono Elphick, Chris Whitton and Sam Kimmince but went into the game as firm favorites.
Both teams struggled to gain any ascendancy in the first quarter as poor skill frustrated coaches and spectators alike as the Saints opened up a 15 point lead at the first break.
Led by Scott Fermor and Hayden Chappel, the Saints started to stamp their authority in the second term as they kicked five unanswered goals to go into the main break up by 46 points.
The Swans were gallant all day and at times had momentum but they simply ran out of legs in the second half.
The Saints' decision making when shooting for goal may need to be questioned following a number of bizaare choices to pass the ball to team mates who haven't kicked a goal this season.
The footpass was foiled on both occasions with one passage resulting in the ankle injury to Hayden Chappel. He took no further part in the game and is a 50/50 chance of playing on Tuesday night.
Once again the Saints youngters came to the fore with Hamish Bird working hard all over the field and Toby Tollis using his big frame and boot to great advantage in the second half.
Along with Chappel, Nick Reid may have strained a hamstring and Corey Borthwick sustained a serious ankle injury right on the final siren.
It will be interesting to see what side the Saints take to Tamworth on Tuesday considering the growing injury list.
