The Saints booted the first goal of the afternoon before the Nomads kicked into gear kicking the next three goals of the game to open up an early 19 point lead at the first break.
The home sides' dominance continued into the second quarter as the Saints were forced to kick under pressure and continually turn over the ball, allowing the Nomads to have numerous shots at goal. If not for poor kicking at goal, the Nomads could have led by more at halftime but kept the visitors in the game, leading by 27 points at halftime.
The Saints had the momentum in the last ten minutes of the second term but could not put scoreboard pressure on the reigning premier.
The Nomads continued to dominate play in the the third term as they continued to outnumber and outclass their oppostion. Their speed around the ground and ball skills came to the fore as they booted five goals to three to go into the last quarter up by 37 points.
The run and spread was non existent from the Saints as they caved into the pressure of the Nomads to eventually go down to the flag favorites by 53 points
Hayden Chappel, Hamish Bird and Sam Kimmince could hold their heads high following their performances while Captain Justin Pay was as usual a hard worker around the field.
The Saints must now focus on their crucial clash against the Tamworth Kangaroos at Varley Oval on Saturday.
It is a must win for the Saints to keep alive their hopes of finishing second after the home & away season and a double chance opportunity in the finals.
