The move by the TAFL to hold this carnival outside of Tamworth is seen as an opportunity by the league to showcase AFL in its regional centres. The Gunnedah Bulldogs will host the day with teams from all seven clubs in the league taking part and should be a financial boost for the Gunnedah club and the town. TAFL president Gerry Griffiths says the day will be the first serious hit-out for all the clubs in the competition, and will be an opportunity for all teams to test their player strength. The home and away season kicks off on April 22nd. Clubs will be competing for prize money a trophy. The day gets underway at 8.30am at Wollesley Oval.
