The Inverell Saints will take to the road for the first time in 2011 to take on the Tamworth Swans at Number One Oval. This match is a replay of the 2009 Grand Final in which the Swans were the victors and this match always provide tough contests and a fierce battle for every possession.
The Saints come into the match on the back of their 99 point win over the Cats in Inverell last week, whilst the Swans were beaten by the Dogs in Tamworth. The Saints new look outfit were impressive at times last week but still showed some rust after a preseason of no matches. The boys from Inverell will need to play a better 4 quarter game of footy if they expect to win this one. Adding to the woes, Tom Williams will miss some time with a serious knee injury and new recruit Charlie McShane will also miss due to broken ribs. Best on ground in last weeks win, Russell Brien, also looks set to miss with a cork in the thigh. However the Saints do welcome back premiership players Gary Hadland and Ben Mutimer and will also see the debut of Nick Thompson, Kyle Charter and Scott Fermor.
The Swans will be keen to get their first win of the year and repeat that performance in 2009. The last two clashes between the teams during 2010 both went the way of the Saints, but prior form is no guide with both teams making major changes this year.
As always this game has the makings of a cracker. All the action starts at 2pm at Number One Oval in Tamworth.
