The match was part of a double-header played at Bellevue Oval in Armidale. The return of a number of key players from injury was the key to the victory. Saints captain Hugh Stone lead from the front with a man of the match performance with 4 goals. Coach Dick Gleeson chimed in with two goals. The Saints had strong performances from Luke Selig, Shaun Mansfield and James Williams. The Swans went into the game as almost un-backable favourites to win but were in trouble when the Saints stormed to a 40-point lead. The Saints withstood a fast finishing last quarter by the Swans to seal one of the clubs best wins of the season. In its first season in the Tamworth AFL the club is fourth on the table and is looking to continue its winning momentum in the run home to the finals. The Saints will take on second placed Tamworth Kangaroos on Saturday at home in the seniors and under 16's. The first game kicks off at 12.30pm.
Final score: 10.8.68 to 7.14.56
