Confirmation has been received that these two high profile players will be in Inverell, at our invitation, to promote the game and lift the profile of AFL in our town and our district.
On the itinery are visits to the local schools, and a training run with the Inverell Saints senior team with the day culminating in a Sportsman's Dinner at the Riverside Restaurant on the Tuesday evening.
Michael O'Loughlin has been troubled by injuries in the early part of this season, but is starting to really find his form in the last couple of weeks. Michael's achievements include Best and fairest 1998, 2nd Best and fairest 2000, All-Australian 1997, 2000, International Rules Series 1999, 2000, Fos Williams Medal 1998, leading goalkicker 2000, 2001, AFL Rising Star nominee 1995.
Paul Bevan was elevated from the rookie list pre-season in 2004, and he proved a revelation, both in defence and when used in the midfield. Courageous almost to a fault, he played every game and won a National Bank's AFL Rising Star nomination for his performance against the Kangaroos in round four. The 20-year old has played every senior game since making his debut in round one, 2004 - a milestone most second-year players would love to replicate.
The Sportsman's Dinner at the Riverside Restaurant begins at 7:30pm. Tickets are available from Country an' Working Gear, Inverell or by calling 0427 223133. The cost of the tickets is $50:00 per head or $40:00 per head for financial members of the Inverell Saints.
As part of the evening's entertainment we will be finalising our auction of a signed 2005 Sydney Swans Jumper. Our current bid is $200:00. Call 0427 223133 to place your bid prior to the evening, or come along to the dinner and join in the fun of the live auction.
