The Inverell Saints will play host to the 2010 TAFL Major Semi Final this Saturday. This match pits the best two teams from the TAFL in 2010 against each other as the old rivalry with the Roos is renewed. This match marks the third consecutive season that the Roos and Saints have squared off in the Major Semi, with the last two split at one win each. Ironically in both matches it has been the team on the road that has taken the home ground advantage into the Grand Final.
The Saints are coming off a routine victory over the bottom placed Cats last weekend, but were much better off for the run after a couple of weeks away from footy. The Roos come into the clash freshened up having the bye last weekend, but are on the back of some impressive performances before the rest.
The Saints will welcome back Jason Gobbert, Shaun Mansbrdige and Mick Corcoran for the clash, all of whom are big inclusions for the club. However the Saints do lose the services of Mick Viney who has succumbed to a knee injury sustained last weekend. The loss of the full forward is a big blow for the Saints, with the rest of the forward now having to step up to cover his loss.
The match is also an opportunity for the Saints to recognise a very important organisation in the Westpac Resuce Helicoptor, where the Saints will donate $1000 to the charity.
All the action starts at 2pm. Be sure to be there.
