League Women –Lightning v Tracy Village Jets

The Tracy Village Jets knocked off their closest challengers, the Lightning, 73-50 with a solid team effort that saw every player contributing to the score board total. Guard Sam Rioli (20.2ppg) led the team once again with a game high 18 followed by Abby Cubillo (13ppg) with 14. After a see saw first quarter that had Lightning leading 16-15 the Bombers struck back with a 20-9 second quarter that put them firmly in control of the game. They led 35-25 at the half and kept up the pressure throughout the second half outscoring Lightning 38-25 for the win. Star Higgins (17 @ 12.2ppg) and Emma Carbone (16 @ 3ppg) combined for 33 points for the Lightning, but support was left wanting with no one else in double figures.

Eagles v Uni Rebels

The Uni Rebels won their second game in a row with a whopping 100-66 win against the Eagles. Six players hit double figures during the game with Tamara Sheppard leading the way with 22. Guard Jaylene Boundry was on fire from outside the arc, nailing 5 treys in her 17 point haul in support. A knee injury to US import Kymira Woodberry (11 @ 23.5ppg) early in the game didn’t help the Eagle cause, but it was doubtful that the Birds could have stayed with the Rebel onslaught for the whole game. Guard Michelle Friel (5ppg) led the Eagles with 18 followed by Lydia O’Gardy (2.5ppg) with 15 and Lillian Williams on 14.

The Eagles were led by guard Jarrod Sheppard (16.6ppg) with a game high 18, Louis Ilton (17.5ppg) with 12 and Chris Stewart (11ppg) with 10. After a 13 all first quarter the Bombers made their break with a 12-8 run for a 25-21 half time lead.
