QAFL PREVIEW:
Springwood v Maroochy-Northshore
SPRINGWOOD coach Brad Pollock is on the money when he says this season’s Pumas are a much-improved unit than ones that have struggled for many seasons.
“So far we haven’t got the results on the board, but we have definitely improved,’’ said Pollock.
“We have a young squad and managed to top it up with some wise old hands in Mark Edwards, David Swan and Tony Van Rooyen.’’
Edwards and Van Rooyen are over from Mt Gravatt and Swan hails from East Perth.
Adding to the Puma power this round should be star on-baller Shane Murrihy, who is set to resume after a hamstring strain.
Maroochy-Northshore, everybody’s tip to be the side that challenges Palm Beach-Currumbin for the flag, will be without at least three regulars, perhaps four, for their trip down the Bruce Highway.
Ruckman Brad Stefanovic and forward James Page have work commitments and key position player Chris Chahla is injured.
Another top Roo could also miss because of work, although coach Peter Somerville declined to reveal who he is.
