What an Awesome Night!
The Puma Trivia Night/Disco for 2012 lived up to its predecessor reputation & a great time was had by all yet again. Over 100 Puma Parents & Seniors showed their club spirit & rocked up for a great night of entertainment, dancing & laughter.
We had Elvis, Jacko, Ga Ga, Grease, Jedi’s, Princess Lea, Ozzie Osbourne, Booze Bros, Shrek & Fiona, Super Heros, Sponge Bob, Bo Peep, Aunty Jack, Stevie Nicks, Hippies, Adam Ant, Kiss, Warnie….etc…Just about everyone dressed to the Superstar Theme.

The trivia was just a good excuse to meet/discuss & get to know one another. It played 2nd fiddle to the music, fun & socializing. The questions were interactive & easy which lead to allot of dancing & joking around. Several rounds of Trivia were stopped as some of the music questions motivated the Puma Parents to pack the dance floor & sing along. The buzz was brilliant & the DJ/Quiz master stirred & fed off the mood & flow created by the super enthusiastic Pumas.
Just some of the many Highlights were:
-
The costumes were fantastic with the room full of laughter before the 1st question was even asked.
-
Michael (Scott Pyke) Jackson’s solo moon walk to Billie Jean will never be forgotten.
-
Damos AC/DC head banging Air Guitar performance. LOL
-
Seniors serenading one another singing “You’ve Lost That Lovin Feeling”
-
The U12s & Girls team nearly blew the roof off & when they won the loudest table in the sing along comp.
-
John & Brad lead the way in the Congo line with everyone joining in.
-
Reigning champ Tim (Slash 2011 & Alice Cooper 2012) looked brilliant again but was just piped this year by his brother Chris as the best dressed on the night. Shrek’s (Chris) naturally perfectly shaped green Ogre head got him the trophy.
-
Simmos Top 10 Countdowns from each decade had everyone singing along to ridiculously bad but addictive classics from Dean Martin, Leo Sayer, Dr Hook, Kenny Rogers, Wham, John Farnham, GunsnRoses, Spice Girls to Britney….etc. This culminated in seniors & parents looking into one another’s eyes and belting out Whitneys “I will always love you”..LOL!!!
-
Our MAJOR sponsors Michael & Drue from Bendigo Bank joined in the fun. Drue even attempted to sing on the microphone to his favorite “Johnny Cash” classic.
-
The U13s came from last position in 2011 to answer the winner takes all final question & walk away with the 2012 trivia premiership cup.
-
80’s Rock music reigned supreme on the dance floor. It looked like a scene from the movie “Rock of Ages” or 80s Blue light disco. The last songs were from Suzie Quatro & then the Twisted Sister classic “Were not Gonna Take it” had everyone still chanting in the car park as they made their way home.
People have commented since that “Even though they were not even drinking they could not stop dancing, laughing & joining in the fun”.
Many thanks must go to Leanne (Cyndi Lauper), Damian (Heyman), Bronie (Jelly shots) & Janette (in Tassie) for helping organise the night. Denis & Karen behind the bar were also great. Another big special thanks must also go to all the Junior Managers especially Felicity U11s & Anna & Craig S for selling 20 tickets to the U9s alone.
Next lets see if the kids can have as much fun as the Puma Parents at the
Puma Kids Disco on Friday 20 July
& then the grown ups get another chance for a top night out at the
Sportsman’s Night with Anthony Koutoufides & Dean Jones on Saturday 28 July.
Get your tickets from the Puma Bar or team manager.
