The boys made the long trip for a rematch with Bribie Island. Having played Bribie earlier in the year, it was an opportunity to see how far the boys had progressed since the beginning of the year. Derek moved a few of the boys around in a view to getting a bit of the spark back.
The boys began well with Michael getting his hands to the ball first in the middle and Lincoln and Jimmy hard at it in the middle saw Springwood with plenty of possession and pushing the ball forward, Daniel was presenting up forward and it wasn't long before Ryan kicked a good goal to get the boys underway. Bribie looked to step up a little and started to win some psosession through the midfield. Patrick was standing tall in the unfamiliar position of CHB and repelling many raids. Bribie had one last opportunity late in the quarter but an error by the umpire who didn't hear the siren saw a Bribie player mark in the goal square about five seconds after the siren had sounded. The resulting goal saw the Pumas only in front by a small margin at the break.
The second quarter began similarly and Reece was bobbing up around the ground. The boys were battling hard and Oli was showing some dash from defence and reading the play well. Ryan kicked a second but another late goal to Bribie saw the teams close at the half.
Derek set them the team a challenge of 10 goals for the end of the game and a pumped up Springwood took the field in the third quarter. Lincoln in one of his best quarters for the year was dominating play and leading by example. Jordan was proving difficult to contain in the forward line and Springwood quickly had a couple of goals on the board. A little bit of niggle started to come out as Bribie realised they were in trouble. In one of their best performances for the year, the boys kicked four for the quarter and were playing well. A great run after the loose ball by Michael and Duck highlighted the boys commitment for each other.
At the break Derek told them they were only half way to the key indicators and he still wanted more. Good lead up play saw Lincoln kick a long goal and the boys started to really try it on. Jimmy was still every where and dominating around the ground in his hard at the ball manner. Another good run by Jayden saw another goal to the boys Bribe starting to resort to some off the ball tactics to break the boys stride. To the teams credit they remained focussed on the ball and continued to do what worked. Five goals for the quarter saw the boys run out comfortable winners and remain on top of the ladder.
