The Roos had a tough trip to Surfers Paradise on the weekend with not a lot to celebrate on the long trip back to the Coast.
Our Roo reserves had a hard day at the office with a strong Surfers Paradise unit kicking with impressive accuracy to take an easy win 31.11.197 to 0.1.1.
In an ugly day on the score board Caleb Timmer, Luke Walker, Brendan Fair, Madison Rodgers, Bryce Judd and Jesse Goldfinch were amongst the best on ground.
The senior came out positive but Surfers kicked away early in the first quarter and never looked back.
The second quarter was potentially the highlight of their game restricting Surfers to just two goals while the Roo boys up forward slotted through three.
Four goals from James Page with singles to Jared Clark and Liam Brandon was all of the action the forwards seen, Surfers cruised to a 22.13.145 to 6.7.43 victory.
Best on ground honours went to Andrew Maskell-Dunstan, Sam Panoho, Josh McPherson, Matthew Allman, Jarrod Raun and James Page.
In what was set to be a test for the Under 18s Division One Cup lads turned into another easy win which could have been more convincing with more accurate kicking.
The boys ran out winners 11.15.81 to 5.9.39 with Mitch Habgood stepping up from division two to boot three goals.
Nick Selman kicked another double adding to his season tally and proving a reliable target up forward along with Callum Lee who also kicked two of the best.
Speaking of the best, Elliot Escott-Kenny, Hayden Matthews, James Manfield, Harry White, Nick Selman and Mitch Habgood were named best on.
This week will be the biggest test for the boys when they host the Western Magpies who are currently on top of the ladder.
Not only are the Magpies the front runners in the competition but they are odds on for taking out the premiership so it will no doubt be an awesome battle at Fishermans Road this weekend.
The division four boys also had a tough day on the Coast going down to Caloundra 13.15.93 to 6.4.40.
Jeremy Cockram kicked two with Mace Kirkpatrick, Brendan Robins, Kane Stegeman and Phillipe Rowe sharing the load with each kicking singles.
Best on ground was awarded to Jeremy Cockram, Mace Kirkpatrick, Matt Bury, Mitch Reading, Ashley Simpson and Darryn Warren.
The div four boys had a great third quarter and can hopefully carry some of that momentum to their North Shore opponents this weekend.
The division two under 18s were defeated by the Glasshouse Hinterland Lions in a relatively close match.
Scott Bellamy kicked three goals in an impressive display but not enough to get the Roos over the line, Glasshouse Hinterland running out 40 point winners 11.10.76 to 5.6.36.
Matthew Gordon, Joel Lawford, Sam Wilson, Jye Smith, Brendan Wilkinson and Dillon Walker were all rewarded with best on ground honours.
The div two 18s will this weekend take on the Caloundra/Caboolture outfit which will test not only the depth but the mental toughness of the boys.
