The solidly built Brooks Durdin is 21 years old and hit Senior football in Warnambool (Koroit) at 16 years of age (also playing Rep footy down there) so he knows all about playing in the middle against big bodies, which is probably why he looks so at home in the Tigers midfield.
Looking for a bit of a change in the middle of last year saw Brooks give a mate who lived in Noosa a call and he was soon headed North to the Sunny Coast. With a few Warnambool boys having a kick with the Tigers it was natural to come to Tigerland and from there after a few games in the two's Fletch gave him a Senior berth and he has fitted in ever since.
With his folks and three sisters all back in Warnambool, Brooks has settled well in Noosa and now is living in a house with girlfriend Kylie. A landscaper by trade, he has only recently moved to a firm based in Coolum which has cut down on a lot of travel to Brisvegas and given him more time at home and the footy club.
A Western Bulldogs supporter (I knew there had to be 1 up here), Brooks is a distant relative to Doug Hawkins and has met the Footscray and Victorian player who so loved his Bulldogs despite their lack of success during his era
He is also pretty handy at other sports and plays off 10 at golf, whilst useful with either willow or a tennis racquet in hand.
Given that Brooks has played in 4 Grand Finals for 0 Flags, now all he is after is the thrill of a win on the big day of the footy calendar and to enjoy it with his Tigers mates.
Brooks is one of those great young blokes who puts on his gear and gets the job done week after week with minimum noise or fuss. He is what we used to call a real ripper of a player and I know all at Tigerland hope Brooks Durdin plays for Noosa for many years to come.
