When you see Leachy and Gabe giving each other crap as most mates do, it reinforces how things like sport give young blokes a chance to make friends that can last a lifetime.
When Leachy started at Good Shepherd in Year 8, Gabe had already been there for 7 years but as Leachy showed the good sense to join Noosa in pursuing his footy, Gabe was already a Pomona Demon so it wasn't team work that reinforced the friendship - they actually played against each other.
Now as well all know, you wouldnt ask the flashy fella with the Green Boots who was the better player but I am sure that given he is bigger and stronger that Leachy would've carried the day. Regardless fate would see them playing together in Tiger colours one day and still mates even after leaving school during Year 11
And funnily enough both Gabe & Leachy picked up the tools and are apprentice carpenters.
Socially the boys do a bit together whether its heading to the MCG to watch the Anzac Day Game, heading to a concert or out & about on a Saturday night.
Both the boys have had some good games this year in the Two's with Leachy much like his personailty showing solid steady improvement, and Gabe showing form at both ends of the spectrum.
I hope the boys stick around (probably between OS travel like most young men) and play for the club for their playing lifetimes as I reckon its the Gabe's, Leachy's, Chayse's, Maxy's, Nick's, Stuey Allen's, Jesse's, Jed's and a host of up and coming young blokes that can see our club continue to prosper into the future.
It would be a good path to follow for a couple of Good Shepherd's
