2007 ANNUAL SCHOOL'S COMPETITION
Montmorency Primary School was this year's venue for the Eltham Lacrosse Club's Annual School's Competition, where local schools play off for the Ray Shannon Trophy, and the club obtains new recruits for the"fastest game on two feet!".
Games over the last three weeks have been fast and furious with children showing
exceptional skills after being newly introduced to this ancient sport.
With teams representing several of the local schools the grand final was playedbetween Sherbourne Bullets and Eltham Bisons with the latter taking a 5 - 1 victory. Other finalists were Eltham Cougars, Greenhills Superstars,Sherbourne Bombs, and Greenhills Victory.
The club was pleased to see so many parents and spectators at the game and also with the recruitment numbers. It seems word has got around with parents that Lacrosse is the best game for young children to be introduced into a team sport. With shortened fields that still accomodate plenty of running, no contact and rules so that goals can only be scored after the ball has been passed three times, it is proving to be a game that has opportunities for any child to play.
New players are always welcome in any age group including Seniors inboth male and female teams so if you want more information go to the Club'sweb site at www.eltham.lax.org.au or contact the Junior Director John Young johny58@iprimus.com.au
BRADLEY KENDALL - 250 GAMES
Eltham Lacrosse Clubrooms were full on Saturday night with family and friends and co-players of Bradley Kendall who played his 250th Senior game. And Kendall gave them reason to celebrate earlier in the day in his game against top of the ladder Moreland, where he earned best on ground votes , scored 7 goals and gave 5 assists.
Ex president Ray Shannon suitably lauded Kendall's career during his speech which began as a junior following in his mother's footsteps. Kendall has many State selections, State Championships both as player and coach and Club Premierships to his credit including the period when Eltham's Division 1 team was Champion for five consecutive years.
Celebrations were topped of with a "special" meal prepared by family and friends
which continued well into Sunday morning.STOP PRESS.....................

BACK AT ELTHAM
Great to see Ashley Miller around the club again although he says he will be leaving again soon to embark on his new employment venture.
Welcome back to Jai Arambatzis after a long absence. Jai made his presence felt on the field after his return match earned him umpire votes.
MORE CONGRATULATIONS -
To Rachel and Ashley Deans on the birth of their daughter Brianna
To Sam and Elizabeth Fleming on their recent wedding
To Ben and Jodie Hammond on their recent wedding
To Lachlan Ross and Georgia Treloar on their engagment and recent house purchase. Congratulations to Ben Hammond and Sam Fleming who announced their engagements to Liz and Jodie. Both couples had 'romantic' proposals and the Club looks forward to celebrating their nuptuals in the near future.
Amid the beautiful tranquil settings of the Fitzroy Gardens on Saturday 13th March 2004 Andrew Millar and Melissa Ridley exchanged vows in "The Old Bandstand" which has graced the gardens since 1876. Melissa walked to the setting on a path of rose petals accompanied by her father Doug, sister Amanda and friends Samantha and Catherine. Her off-the-shoulder, two piece fitted gown with box pleat was a dazzling oyster colour, offset by a string of oyster pearls and blue droplet pearl given to the bride by her father.
Andrew, his brothers David and Anthony and friend Scott looked groovy in pinstripe suits, white 70's style shirts and red roses in their lapels. The bells of St. Pauls appropriately chimed as they were pronounced husband and wife and after photos in the gardens and at various venues around Melbourne the bridal group returned to "The Pavillion Tea Rooms" for a night of fun and festivities. After a three week honeymoon in America and a week in Noosa to recover the happy couple returned to their house in Surrey Hills for a bright and happy future.
Congratulations to Greg Cobern and Andrea Gould whose nuptuals were witnessed by over 60 members of the Eltham Lacrosse Club on Saturday 18th October, 2003. The bride wore an A-Line ice blue dress with midnight blue open laced overlay jacket which was made by Matron of Honour Leanne Kauffman.
After the ceremony the guests partied well into the night being entertained by not only by a song from the bride, but a variety of singers and bands
Congratulations are in order to Fry family on the safe arrival of "Joshua Peter", son for Peter and Sharon. This is the first Grandchild for Jeff and Rhonda and proud uncle Tim.
Congratulations from all at Eltham.
Many members of the Eltham Lacrosse Club attended the Engagement and House Warming Party of Andrew Millar and Melissa Ridley at their Surrey Hills home last Saturday 26th July.
Although Andrew 'presented' Melissa with the princess cut diamond ring a few weeks ago the festivities were held over. The wedding will be held in the not too distant future.
Congratulations from players, members, committee and parents of the Eltham Lacrosse Club.
On a Saturday night not too long ago Greg and his team put a new slant on the long introduction night tradition. Bedecked in strange colourful headwear instead of telling the patrons their lacrosse beginnings we were entertained with music and something to do with a brussel sprout. It went on for some time and then, new to these nights we had a winner who was hoisted into the air and dutifully presented with a check flannelette shirt. We think there may have been more shirts in the bag and that all the team would soon be wearing them - a fashion statement Greg began years ago.
We were treated to another song from the boys and it all ended rather cheerfully, although we still do not know who is who..................
AFTER A VERY SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL'S COMPETITION RECRUITMENT THIS YEAR WE ARE ABLE TO FIELD 2 UNDER 12 TEAMS NAMES UNDER 12 RUSSELL AND UNDER 12 DURHAM (These are the surnames of two of our founding members).
