Tuggeranong Lions Junior AFC
Since the Tuggeranong Lions started in 1976, the Club has encouraged boys and girls who live in the Valley to participate in Australain Rules football. Or vision has stayed the same for over 40 years, to promote the playing of football in a safe and healthy environment.
1976 saw the Tuggeranong Lions enter the ACT Junior Footbal League. We were simply known as the Tuggeranong Junior Football Club. Our first club meeting was held on the 16th of February 1976.
Our founding members were, Neil Brown (President,) Col Chambers, John Byrne and Noel Couch.
Our first Jumpers were actually red and white stripes, borowed from Southerland Football Club based in Mawson.
It was later in 1976 that Col Chambers wrote to the VFL Club Fitzroy and asked if we could wear Fitzroy Club colours.
In a letter dated 8 July 1976, the Secretary-Manager of the Fitzroy Football Club gave permission for the Tuggeranong Junior Footbal Club to wear their colours.
The Club officially changed our name to the Tuggeranong Lions Junior Australian Football Club on the 19th of February 1985.
