After ongoing issues in the 2011 season the Belconnen Magpies Football Club has received resignations from both Michael Horne (NEAFL/Senior) and John Williams (Reserve/2nd Grade).
The Club is in the process of putting in place interim arrangements for the remainder of the 2011 season.

Belconnen Magpies are proud to announce that they have 4 junior players currently representing the NSW/ACT region in Under 16s National Championships. Seven boys were selected from the ACT region and the fact Belconnen alone has four of these is an outstanding achievement and a credit to the boys and their coaching/support staff.
Belconnen captain Lexie Bennett played his 150th game for the club last weekend when the GIANTS were host to his side in Sydney. The game was not as celebratory as Bennett would of hoped for with Belconnen going down 7.4-46 to the GIANTS 26.20-176. However mid-way through the season, the Magpies are not down and out.
Saturday the 18th of June saw the 2011 BWT Cup at the Lyneham tennis centre. Please read the attached article for a wrap up of what was a fantastic night!

The Belconnen Magpies Football Club in conjunction with the AFL NSW/ACT Umpires Association will be hosting an Umpires Education Session on Thursday 17th March 2011.
Over two action packed days the Greater West Sydney players and coaching staff participated in a community camp designed to promote the game of AFL and also develop interest and excitement in the leagues newest franchise.

For the first time in the Belconnen Magpies history the entire senior footballing group went on a gruelling preseason camp to Pambula together. The camp was held from Friday February 18th until Sunday February 20th and consisted of all four men’s teams, the women’s team and the under 18s working together to not only improve their fitness, but also teamwork, relationships and goal-setting.
The Belconnen Magpies will be holding their Annual Season Launch on Sunday 20th March 2011.

Current GWS players CUrtly Hampton, Jarred Harding, Andrew Phillips, Sam Darley, Nathan Wilson and Tim Seagrave will be visiting schools this Thursday 24th and Friday 25th February as part of the AFL Community Camps.
This is a great opportunity to promote AFL within our region and to promote the GWS team which will compete in the new NEAFL competition in 2011!

The Belconnen Magpies in November commenced an Academy for development of junior plays identifying in particular talented players from the Belconnen Cats and West Canberra Magpies Junior Under 14’s and Under 16’s teams, as well as some of the first year Under 18 players from the Club.
ACT V GWS GIANTS
See flyer attached for the historic first match in the ACT by the GWS Giants (who will commence in the AFL in 2012 as the 18th side) versus a representative team from the ACT.
The Belconnen Magpies have 9 players in the squad of 42 (Mal Douglas, Sam Rutland, Rhys McAlister, Nick Collins, Jordy Harper, Daniel Jordan, Ryan Turnbull, John Love and Jye Bohm), so the Belconnen Magpies should be well represented on the day.
Entry is by gold donation with all proceeds going to junior football.
The Honourable Bob McMullan recently retired from federal politics, and in turn resigned in his role as Club Patron after 22 years of strong service. At the end of football season Bob was awarded Life Membership of the Belconnen Magpies to acknowledge his valued contribution over such a long period. Club President Daryl Read recently presented Bob with a framed football jumper (per photo below), with the number 22 signifying the number of years as service as our Club Patron.
