U18’s
Saturday saw us away to Manly for a big clash and we were meet with a beautiful sunny morning but a wet track after a couple of days of rain.
After a slow start in the previous game against UNW/ES it was going to be important to start this week with a better showing. With Tim and Brodie combining well together and the backline providing great run we got the start we wanted and Gareth took advantage of a run up forward and slotted 2 early goals.
Our midfield of Dyl, Mobbsy and Gary were all working tirelessly and new comer Bully was working well in tandem with Mark D in the ruck.
At half time we went in with a comfortable lead but the boys were reminded about how we turned our game around last week and that Manly would come back at us hard.
The 2nd half saw us lift our effort in the 1%er department and our 2nd and 3rd efforts were a credit to the boys work rate and with some good open forward line play it allowed Tim, Dunc and Ossie to capitalise.
In what was our first real 4 qtr effort this year we ran out 68 point winners and moved a game clear in 2nd spot. With a handful of games remaining we need to continue with our good numbers at training and our hard work on the track as positions for the finals are not guaranteed.
Mac Uni 14-14-98 beat Manly Wolves 4-6-30
Best on Ground – Timmy, Gazza, Coops, Ralph, Mobbsy, Gareth
