PHYSIOTHERAPIST Suzanne Ryan has become the first woman to be named a life member of the Macquarie University Australian Football Club.
Ryan was awarded the honorary life membership on Sunday. She became the first non-player and first woman to receive the accolade.
She was given the award after two decades of dedicated service to the club as a volunteer physiotherapist and first aid assistant.
Throughout her two decades with the club, Ryan has been voted best club person three times and has won a Macquarie University Sports Award as volunteer of the year.
“During my time at the club I’ve formed lifelong friendships while riding the highs of premiership wins and the lows of player injury,” she said during her acceptance speech.
Fellow club identities Jeremy White, Andrew Smail and Jeff Hardman were also inaugurated.
