Macquarie University midfielder Dean “Tapdogs” Connors is the winner of the 2009 Sanders Medal (Division 2 Best & Fairest). Tappers received his award before 425 people at the gala function held at Doltone House, Pyrmont, last night, Monday 14th September, 2009.

Tappers wrapped up the award for Best & Fairest during Round 16 against East Coast Eagles when he polled 3 votes for a BOG performance. Both he and Phil Hamer remained voteless over the last 2 rounds to leave Tappers a 1 vote winner on 20 votes over Southern Power’s Phil Hamer on 19.
In other awards, Club “stalwart” and future First Grade Full Forward, Rowan “Stumpy” Pryor took out the coveted Leading Goalkicker Award in Division 4. Stumpy has spent the last 3 days since the Senior’s GF win instructing DK how he can improve his sides performance and efficiency by promoting the “league leading goalkicker” straight from Third Grade to First Grade full forward.
Highlight of the night, well there were many, but had to be Stumpy winning Div 4 Leading Goalkicker and showing Mark Beretta, host of the night, that he was none too happy by not being allowed a speech to the strong 425 crowd.
