Well, well well, Round 15 saw the Camden Cats travel to Mac Uni for a Saturday of Sydney footy under lights.
At the first bounce, the Cats came out of the blocks prepared to play tight, man-on-man football. And it worked. Camden played extremely well in the first quarter whilst we continued to get the ball and turn it straight back over. This allowed Camden to take a sizeable lead into the break and restrict us to just 1 major.
The 2nd quarter continued much like the first with Camden again playing a skilled brand of footy and tight man-on-man footy. Keeping us in the game was Astro who had his best game of the season dominating in defence, running hard at the ball and through the line. Camden were able to take a 4 goal lead into the major break.
After half time, we had discussed that we needed to get the first goal and we believed we could lift from there. As things have it, that is exactly what happened and things started to turn. With Whytey and Hamma starting to get plenty of possessions, Wazza stepping into his best game of the year and Astro continuing down back we surged ahead in the 3rd quarter wrestling the lead in our favour.
The 4th quarter continued the third and in the end we were happy to run away 30 point winners and take the 4 points. This week we take on the Bats in what can decide our finals fortunes as we near the end of the regular season chasing that finals berth against the Goannas.

RESERVES
Well we spoke in the sheds prior to this game that we would stick to our disciplines and that we would not let them score a goal and to our credit we did just that.
With Stringer out for the game ill in bed I spoke to Claw an instated him as captain, we had a chat and I asked of him to bring something special to the team and for him to lead by example. I and the team were not let down, he is in fine form after such a bad injury at the start of the year and I hope he now carries this thru to the final campaign we are heading towards.
David and I spoke to the team and asked for them to use this game as a test of their ability and to use this as a stepping stone for what we had achieved so far. We needed to play this game as it were the Grand final against UTS {Hinting here} and we did jus that.
To the guys credit the play across the whole paddock was good we did not panic we did what we need to do to feed the forwards but again the only concern for the coaches was the disposal into the forwards. We put so much pressure on what is becoming a very dominating line-up and one that can truly win football games but the team needs to get it in there more direct.
At the main break I asked them to step it up and really come home with an emphatic win in front of our OLD BOYS and build the platform for the first grade to take with them into their game. We did just that and after a few tussles I started to rest key players before this week’s big game.
I would again like to thank the guys from 3rds that backed up to help out as my regulars were helping out the first grade once again due to injuries. You guys have a lot of heart and hopefully there will be some room come the first final.
We need to this week put our heads together and come up with the plan to bury UTS and get one over them before the final and David and I will bring this to the guys come Saturday.
On one note I need you guys to be a little bit more involved with the club as the support from the 2nds was disappointing to say the least on Saturday after the game. I had 2 guys stick around after the game and David and I ended up in the canteen for hours and eventually worked the clean up of the rooms as well.
Guys this the bread and butter for the club and what makes the payment of fees etc as low as we can and if we are not prepared to help out then this may change going forward. All we ask a s a club is put your hand up and help out every now and then and I you see someone doing something that they should not then be a man a step up. We have built something special and we need to continue this going forward.
See you on the paddock

U18’s
This week we played Moorebank at home in what was a hard fought game. Both sides applied a lot of pressure which forced turnovers but we managed to keep our noses in front and lead at half time.
Red and Nonie found plenty of the football and Rob was doing a good job at fullback. The start of the third qtr saw us kick some quick goals and in a tight game gave us a little room to breath but Moorebank fought the game right out to the end with Bully, Boof and Gary also having good games. We eventually ran out winners by 8 points.
