RESERVES
2008 is all over for us, we went down in a fight and a match that was played in atrocious conditions at Kelso oval. We awoke to blinding rain and my game plan that I had worked on all went out the window. We turned up at Kelso and the field resembled a river, not a footy park, then I thought back to my early years of watching the channel 7 Saturday footy from Melbourne and it came back to me. Get down and dirty and fight for the ball and we should get over these guys. We spoke before the game about how we wanted this and again it was up to the 24 who were picked to step up and have a red hot go. Nobody in Sydney gave us a chance but wet weather now brings it back to a 50/50 contest.
We started well and got more ball, but a couple of cheap goals had them go into the break with a margin we could chase. Second half again was hard and we had the wind with us and we came back to within 9 points at the main break and we lost Stringer during the quarter with a head clash and his lips resembled either of the William sisters and the nose was pretty broken as well.
The second half was tight and torrid with both sides trading blows and the umpires helping where they could. I am not a sore loser, we lost I can live with that and we charge on but when you get told by people outside the game and with no involvement that we were robbed by the controllers of the game it is hard to take. Abbs was taken out in a cheap shot and the nose was all over his face, and this would have been because he was carving them up. We made them look silly, they thought we were going to be easy beats but again the Warrior spirit came into play and we stood up.
I would like to thank the whole of the reserve grade and third grade support for me this year, it has been a pleasure in coaching you all and I think the coaches have made you better footballers and hopefully we can keep most of the side together along with the coaches to take the season one step further in 2009.
Well this is my last report for the year, see you all on Grand Final day at The Ping for a few ales and then to the Preso night when again the good clobber comes out of the closet for another memorable night.

U18’s
Saturday saw us dust off the inflatable and shake out the wettie as we played the Southern Power in the worst conditions seen in Sydney footy for a long time. On the line was a spot in the G.F next week against Uni of NSW and we came out and got a score on the board early before the footy became a brick. Belly was in everything and was having a real crack and was supported well by Dylan and at qtr time we were 13 points up.
The 2nd term saw 2 points scored for the whole qtr as mistakes were a plenty from both sides with Ralph and Bubsy both having good first halves with the jobs they had been given.
A 13 point lead at half time turned into being 3 points down at 3/4 time as we over used our hand ball and turned over to much footy that let the Power kick 3 goals which in the end was the difference in the game as neither team kicked a goal in the last and the Power won by 7 points with Gareth and Gary both playing out good four quarter performances.
A disappointing way to finish the season losing both our finals after finishing 2nd but valuable experience was gained for a lot of players and considering the team only won 1 game in 2007 the boys have done an outstanding job and I am proud of the effort they have given all year.
