Congratulations to Norwest Jets U18 div 2 Captain Brent Johnston who on Monday night at the Sydney AFL awards night was joint winner of the Hart Medal for the league Best & Fairest.
Brent polled consistently in 12 games, including 3 best on grounds from the umpires and finished on 23 votes tied with Callum Johnston from Manly.
Brent kicked 23 goals for the season whilst playing most of his football on the ball but more impressively he also played 1 game for the Jets in Div 4 receiving best on ground from coach Peter Kyle but it was the 7 Division 2 games for the Seniors where Brent showed his potential.
He kicked 3 goals & was twice in the top 6 for the Seniors and this was often after playing earlier in the day. Senior coach Donald Ollington said it was a great achievement by Brent who matured throughout the year and that the exposure to Senior football had greatly improved Brent as a footballer, having played in some tough tight pressure games of senior footy this experience was obvious when he went back to play in the U18’s.
