AFL Sydney has today released the Divisional Structure for 2012, giving all Jets' fans the opportunity to see who we will be playing against in all three grades next season.
Premiers Penrith and preliminary finalists Holroyd-Parramatta have been promoted from Division 2 to Division 1, with the Illawarra Lions being relegated to replace them. Sydney Uni's decision not to field a Div 1 team allowed the Goannas to go up.
This decision also spared Camden from relegation to Division 3 and they will remain in Div 2 next season, while Div 3 premier UNSW-Eastern Suburbs have been promoted.
Division 4 has lost premiers Moorebank, who have been promoted to Div 3, and wooden spooner Auburn, who have gone down to Div 5, while North Shore has been relegated from Div 3 and Southern Power promoted from Div 5 to replace them. The addition of Gosford brings Div 4 up to 10 teams and eliminates the bye. The Jets welcome our new Central Coast rivals to the competition and look forward to locking horns with them.
Our new under 18 team will play in Division 2 and is one of two new teams, alongside Saints AFC. This is a great step forward for the Jets and will hopefully ensure the future prosperity of the club.
The season will start on Saturday, March 31, with a general bye the following week for Easter before round two is played on April 14. General byes (wet weather rounds) have also been scheduled for the June long weekend and July 21. The under 18s will have another bye added to their draw to bring their season into line with Premier league, where there finals series will now be played.
The Divisions are:
Division 2: Nor-West, Auburn, Balmain, Camden, Illawarra, Manly-Warringah, Moorebank, St George, Sydney Uni, UNSW/ES
Division 4: Nor-West, Gosford, Holroyd-Parramatta, Macquarie University, Manly-Warringah, North Shore, Penrith, Southern Power, UNSW/ES, UTS
