CAMPBELLTOWN Australian Football Club hosted their Pink Ladies' Day last Saturday at Monarch Oval.
More than 300 people turned up and $7000 was raised for The Breast Cancer Network of Australia.
Reserve Grade Player and Publicity Officer Nathan Tyerman said it was great to see everyone get behind the event.
"All the guys were in pink," he said. " The entire football club got behind the event, i was thrilled to see so much pink on the field. The guys wore pink zinc, some sprayed there hair pink. I even dyed mine.... After losing someone to Breast Cancer earlier this year, it was great to see the whole community get behind a worth while cause.
"[Cancer survivor] Sandy Beech came and shared her experiences to the ladies and anyone who wanted to listen.
"The day was very successful."
David Bowen, the club's manager said the events like this were important in generating breast cancer awareness.
"It's our way of giving back to the community."
On the day, prizes such as a Greater Western Sydney AFL jumper and gift vouchers were awarded.
On the field, the Campbelltown Blues 8.6 (54) beat Sydney University 7.6 (48) in the Premier division thanks to a last gasp goal from Bell. The division four side beat the North Shore Bombers, 6.9 (45) to 6.7 (43) in a game that went all the way down to wire. A smother by Bodeker saved the game for the Blues and The Macarthur Giants under-19s division two team beat the Penrith Rams, 16.11 (107) to 5.8 (38) in a dominate display.
The Club would like to thank clubs Penrith, North Shore and Sydney University in helping us celebrate and raise money for a worth while cause.
