Match Preview
What a cracking win it was against Pennant Hills last week! The Bombers are getting back to their best, and we’ve got some more players coming back as we build up towards the business end of the season. Last week’s win puts us up to third place, in line for the double-chance in the finals – but we’ve got to keep winning to stay there.
This week we’re taking on Sydney Uni. We had a good win against them at Sydney Uni No 1 early in the season; and with our double-chance in the finals on the line, we’ll be set for a big performance this time round. But it won’t be easy – the Students need a win to keep their finals hopes alive. We’ve had some willing contests against the Students in recent years, and we’ve come out on the winning end of most of them. That’s a record we’ll be keen to maintain this time round.
Gwawley Park is on Box Road at Taren Point.
To get there, go through the Harbour Tunnel and continue along the Eastern Distributor. Keep going straight ahead along Southern Cross Drive and under the airport tunnel.
Go straight ahead along The Grand Parade, through Brighton-Le-Sands. Keep going straight ahead, ignore the urge to turn right when most cars will at Bay St. Botany Bay will be on your left. Keep going through Ramsgate; the road swings round to the right at Dolls Point.
Go to the end of the street, and turn left at Rocky Point Road. You will then cross Georges River, once you’ve gone over the bridge get into the right lane. The park will soon be visible on the right. Turn right at the lights just past the ground onto Box Road, there’s plenty of parking on the side street.
To get there by public transport, get the train to the city and change at Town Hall to platform 4 for the southern line. Get off at Kogarah, and catch the Sydney Buses route 477 bus, which will take you across the bridge and across the road from the oval.
