Saturday afternoon at Henson was sunny but with a few dark couds, and a flukey breeze.
Winning the toss and going with the wind in the first quarter, it was a positive start for the Bombers with three early goals. But the Demons hit back to get withn a kick at quarter time; and the second term went the wrong way. The Bombers were only able to score one goal in the second term, giving away some silly frees to let the Demons get away to a 22-point lead at the long break.
When the Demons were leading by six goals midway through the third term, the dream looked to be slipping away. But the Bombers lifted late in the third term, finding run and spirit to get the margin back to 16 points at the last change. The momentum looked to be swinging North Shore's way; but they could get no closer, and for the second week in a row the Bombers went down to Pennant Hills.
Down but not out. Our season is not over, but we're now in sudden death. The next game will be on Sunday 9th September at Blacktown against the winner of the Balmain v St George game.
WEBMASTER'S NOTE - Apologies for the updates stopping. My laptop battery died at three quarter time, and there's nowhere to plug the computer in at Henson. Future games are at Blacktown, where there's plenty of power points; so it won't be an issue for the remainder of this season.
